You’ll get there!

Stad Gent

TL;DR
We got Ghent’s students biking with the “Ge gaat er wel geraken” campaign, blending humor, art, and social media.

In short

The “Ge gaat er wel geraken” campaign promoted De Fietsambassade’s bike rentals to Ghent’s students with humor, art, and social media. From a mural by Karen François to playful online content and thousands of stickers scattered guerilla-style across the city, the campaign reassured students and drove bike reservations, making the service a trusted part of student life.

The Challenge

Amidst the uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, students faced increased stress and anxiety. We needed to create a campaign that not only highlighted the practical benefits of De Fietsambassade’s services but also provided reassurance and encouragement during these challenging times.

Adding to the challenge was a tight budget, leaving no room for media investments. This meant we had to rely on creative, low-cost solutions like guerilla-style sticker distribution and collaborating with an artist ambassador to spread the message organically and maximize reach.

The Insight

Understanding the students’ need for both practical solutions and emotional support, we crafted the slogan “Ge gaat er wel geraken” (“You’ll get there”). This message served as both a literal promise of reliable transportation and a metaphorical boost of confidence.

The Outcome

The campaign successfully increased awareness and uptake of De Fietsambassade’s services among students, fostering a sense of community and support within the city.

In detail

For the follow-up campaign, we brought in Toykyo Studio to add a fresh burst of creative energy with bold visuals that kept the buzz alive while re-engaging students.

The “Ge gaat er wel geraken” campaign rolled out in three high-energy phases, each designed to grab the attention of Ghent’s student population and get them moving. Literally.

Phase 1

Phase 1 kicked things off online with meme-style GIFs and playful social media content built around the slogan, “Ge gaat er wel geraken.” It was simple, funny, and to the point, just like the bike rentals we were promoting. Students got the message loud and clear: grab a bike, and you’ll get wherever you need to go.

Phase 2

Phase 2 cranked up the visibility. We teamed up with artist and influencer Karen François, who transformed the slogan into a mural masterpiece, in her familiar style, at a key university location. The mural wasn’t just art—it was a talking point. Add to that hundreds of stickers popping up in student hotspots, and the campaign became impossible to ignore. Social media brought it all together, ensuring the buzz spread far beyond the campuses.

Phase 3

Phase 3 went straight for the goal: conversions. We hit social channels with dynamic, scroll-stopping content showcasing just how easy it was to rent a bike and get around Ghent. With clear calls to action, students were clicking, reserving, and biking in no time.

The campaign resonated deeply with the student population. Stickers became highly sought after, and the slogan appeared across campuses, even in restrooms. Local media, including Het Laatste Nieuws, covered the campaign, further amplifying its reach.

By addressing both the practical and emotional needs of students, the “Ge gaat er wel geraken” campaign effectively promoted De Fietsambassade’s services, contributing to increased student mobility and well-being in Ghent.
