The Beacon is where cutting-edge tech companies, researchers, and public partners come together to build smarter cities, ports, and industries. But even the most future-forward ecosystem still needs good communication.

We were brought in to help The Beacon explain who they are, what they do, and most importantly: why it matters. We brought structure to their storytelling, clarity to their language, and consistency across newsletters, success stories, and everything in between.

The challenge

The Beacon had the ambition, the members, and the mission, but their communication wasn’t keeping up. Their tools were fragmented, their messaging was scattered, and their tone didn’t reflect the sharpness of their community.

We needed to translate their innovation focus into a communication strategy that was just as smart. Clear where it matters, warm when it counts, and consistent across the board.

The insight

In a complex ecosystem like The Beacon’s, clarity is everything. Researchers speak differently than tech startups. Public partners don’t always get what AI or IoT can do. Storytelling isn’t a nice-to-have here, it’s the glue that holds the ecosystem together.

The outcome

Supermachine delivered a full communication framework to help The Beacon tell its story with structure, tone, and confidence. We created branded content templates, rewrote key communication pieces, and brought member stories to life with real-world case writing.

We also developed a long-term content strategy that allowed The Beacon team to keep momentum going with tools they could manage themselves.

We started by tightening up the newsletter and communication templates, giving The Beacon a more cohesive, branded way to talk to its community. The new formats were built for flexibility and recognisability, so whether you were reading about an upcoming event or a member project, it felt like The Beacon speaking.

Next, we sat down with members from the ecosystem (startups, scale-ups, researchers, and corporates) and turned their experiences into engaging success stories. These were proof of impact, written in human language with real value behind the tech.

To help The Beacon communicate consistently moving forward, we created a house style and tone of voice guide. We defined how they speak, what they say (and what they don’t), and how to structure information across digital channels.

And to tie it all together, we helped build out an “Innovation Storybook”: a living framework that positions The Beacon clearly in the AI & IoT space. It explained how their ecosystem works, what value it creates, and how each partner plays a role in building smarter cities and industries.
