Klimaatbedrijf Blankenberge is more than a project. It’s a mission to make Blankenberge a pioneer in local energy generation. With 10,000 solar panels, 100 charging stations, and three future wind turbines, the initiative wants to provide sustainable solutions to benefit residents and businesses in the city.
We helped to transform this ambitious vision into an inspiring brand and clear communication, turning sustainability into a shared mission for the city.
Energy initiatives often feel distant and overly technical, creating barriers to public participation. Our challenge was to bridge this gap by showing that Klimaatbedrijf Blankenberge isn’t just for residents, it’s powered by them.
By connecting the Klimaatbedrijf’s identity to the city’s own, we transformed it into a trusted local brand that feels like a natural extension of Blankenberge’s character and identity.
The campaign ignited interest and engagement across the city. Through branding that mirrored Blankenberge’s identity and transparent communication strategies, we built trust and fostered a sense of ownership among residents. Live information sessions were key, providing space for questions and collaboration while empowering citizens of Blankenberge to take action.

Klimaatbedrijf Blankenberge represents a bold step toward a sustainable future, with renewable energy at its heart. But how do you turn a technical initiative into a people-powered movement? The answer lies in relatable storytelling, accessible branding, and active community involvement.
Supermachine crafted a brand that echoed Blankenberge’s identity, using black and white as main colors to ensure trust and continuity. The logo, inspired by the city’s visual language, subtly incorporates wind turbines, greenery, and innovation, reflecting the project’s essence. The heart logo of the city is also subtly portrayed to create more ownership.
A critical aspect of the initiative has been its focus on financial participation. Residents were invited to invest in the project, creating a sense of shared ownership and direct involvement in Blankenberge’s energy transition. This approach has proven successful, with over €400,000 in shares sold so far. These investments are not just symbolic; they fund tangible developments, such as the installation of 50 additional charging stations by the end of 2024.
The project also garnered significant press attention, highlighting its innovative approach and impact. Articles on platforms like VRT NWS and others have underscored Klimaatbedrijf Blankenberge’s role as a frontrunner in local energy transitions. We’ve integrated mock-ups of these features into our designs to reinforce credibility and showcase the buzz around the initiative. (Sources and visual credits provided below.)
We kicked off with live sessions, where residents could ask questions, share ideas, and understand the direct benefits of the project. These events made Klimaatbedrijf Blankenberge approachable, blending the city’s authority with a human touch.
To keep the momentum going, we designed materials that were clear and engaging, from templates and icons to strategic presentations tailored for both decision-makers and residents. Messaging was kept simple and actionable, emphasizing that every step, no matter how small, contributes to a brighter future.
By positioning Klimaatbedrijf Blankenberge as a collective effort, we inspired residents to take ownership of the project and embrace their role in shaping the city’s energy transition.
