Don't stop (don't stop) don't stop the beat!
Hear, hear! This campaign will save your ears.
The time has come for us to unveil our Fairtime Award-winning campaign. Together with legendary deejay Yves Deruyter, we will use the air time we won to convince young people to take better care of their hearing.
"I have been in the music industry for over 35 years," Deruyter explains. “In the past, there wasn't any awareness about the consequences of regular exposure to loud music. It shouldn't come as a surprise then that I too suffer from tinnitus. Now that I think about it, I must have given quite a few of my fans the same problem."
The radio spot lets you experience just how much tinnitus limits your music experience. Bit by bit, it eats away at your favourite songs until nothing but a beep remains. But remember: this isn't a campaign about decibel levels or the dangers of going to concerts. Heck, no! This is about a genuine love for music.
That's the reason why the idea is spearheaded by the artists themselves. Musicians like Daan, Black Mamba, dj Dimaro, Olivia Trappeniers from OT, Wolfpack, Alex Callier, Pavlova, Lea Rue and Sean Dhondt all chose to shoulder the campaign.
Many of them know how tinnitus can negatively impact your music experience. "Actually, it makes perfect sense that we want to help," says Deruyter. “We want our fans to take care of their hearing instruments, so they can enjoy our music better and longer.”
Awareness, however, wasn’t enough. We wanted to offer solutions too. And, achieved this by using a creative radio spot, that approached young people in a playful way. A way that leads them straight to detuut.be, a free and online hearing test.
It doesn't even stop there. The test will show you hearing specialists near you, for when, you know, the test result leaves your ears ringing.
